A farewell ceremony was held in Tskhinval for Atsamaz Dzhioev, a fighter from South Ossetia who had heroically died while performing his military duty during the special military operation.

Atsamaz Dzhioev, who was 41 years old, died in the Zaporizhzhye region while serving in the Issa Pliev regiment. His loyalty to duty and selflessness became the example for many. His daughter was left without a father.

Hundreds of people came to pay last tributes to the hero: relatives, friends, comrades in arms, as well as the Republic's top leadership.

The ceremony was attended by South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev, the Parliament Chairman Alan Margiev, Russia's Chargé d'Affaires in South Ossetia Denis Fyodorov and other officials who paid tribute to the deceased defender.

Alan Gagloev expressed his deep condolences to the family and friends of Atsamaz Dzhioev. He has noted that the deceased was a man with a big heart.

"He was kind, sympathetic, always responded to requests," the head of state has emphasized.

Those who knew Atsamaz Dzhioev recalled him as an exceptionally reliable, kind, fearless person who could always be relied upon. His dedication and loyalty to the oath will forever remain in the memory of his fellow countrymen.

In recognition of his merits and heroism, by decree of the head of state, Atsamaz Dzhioev was posthumously awarded the "Defender of the Fatherland" medal.
