The South Ossetian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed support for the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela amid growing external pressure from the United States.
The Foreign Ministry's statement has been made in response to the situation developed in the Caribbean Sea near the Venezuelan territorial waters and airspace.
"South Ossetia has expressed support for this friendly country and the actions of the Venezuelan leadership aimed at protecting its sovereignty and security," the Ministry's statement reads.
The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry has categorically declared its commitment to the inviolable principles of international law enshrined in the UN Charter, including respect for the territorial integrity of states, non-interference in internal affairs, and renunciation of the threat or use of force.
The right of the Venezuelan people to independently determine their own destiny was particularly emphasized.
The Ministry has noted that people of South Ossetia gratefully remember the invaluable support provided by Venezuela on the international stage, in particular the recognition of its independence.
This recognition, the Foreign Ministry has emphasized, reaffirms Venezuela's unwavering commitment to the fundamental principles of equality and self-determination of peoples.
