In Tskhinval, a farewell was paid to a soldier Dmitry Kozaev (Chika), who perished during the special military operation

The Republic's leadership, led by President Alan Gagloyv, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, members of Parliament led by Speaker Alan Margiev, relatives and friends of the deceased, and his fellow soldiers came to honor the hero's memory.

At the farewell ceremony, it was noted that Dmitry had proved himself a brave warrior who was carrying out difficult missions in the combat zone.

"Today we are mourning the loss of one of Ossetia's finest sons. Dmitry was a courageous man, served as a saboteur in the special military operation zone, but, unfortunately, did not return while on mission. "We will always remember him and honor his memory," they said at the rally.

Dmitry had been missing since last summer.

He was 37 years old and left behind three children.

By decree of the Republic's President, Dmitry Kozaev was posthumously awarded the "Defender of the Fatherland" medal.
