Guarding peace and sovereignty: Tskhinval marked the Defender of the Fatherland Day and the 33rd Anniversary of the Ministry of Defense

A ceremonial gathering dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day and the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the national defense ministry was held in the capital of South Ossetia.

The event brought together the veterans, active military personnel, and the Republic's leadership to honor those who had dedicated their lives to defending the Motherland.

The ceremony was attended by the Republic's President Alan Gagloev, former head of state and Chairman of the South Ossetian branch of Styr Nykhas Leonid Tibilov, Russian Ambassador to the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, the heads of security agencies, members of Parliament, and members of the public.

The meeting opened with a screening of a documentary film. Footage from the film reminded those present of the difficult development of the national Armed Forces and the heroic deeds of the heroes who sacrificed their lives to defend the Republic's independence during the years of aggression.

The head of State Alan Gagloev and Acting Defense Minister Yuri Yarovitsky delivered congratulatory addresses.

For exemplary performance of military duty and impeccable service, several Defense Ministry employees were awarded the state awards.

Alan Gagloev personally presented the medals "For Military Labor in the Name of Peace," "For Service Guarding Peace in South Ossetia," and "In Commemoration of the 35th Anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia" to the servicemen.

He thanked the soldiers for their loyalty to their oath and dedication.

After the official ceremony, a festive concert program was prepared for the guests and honorees.
