South Ossetia's Ambassador to Russia, Znaur Gassiev, presented the Republic's state award, the Order of Friendship, to Ambassador Valery Kenyakin, Advisor to the A.M. Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.
The ceremony took place in Moscow on the instruction of the South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev.
The highest state award was presented to the Russian diplomat for his significant contribution to the development of friendly relations between peoples and his many years of fruitful work.
Znaur Gassiev warmly congratulated Valery Kenyakin on his recent 80th birthday, wishing him good health and a long life.
During the meeting, the South Ossetian Ambassador particularly noted Valery Kenyakin's historic role in ensuring stability in the Republic. In particular, he emphasized his contribution as a co-chair of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) for the Georgian-Ossetian conflict.
"People of South Ossetia highly value the work of Valery Kenyakin as a great friend of our Republic. His work within the JCC has made the invaluable contribution to maintaining peace and security in our land during the most difficult periods of history," Znaur Gassiev has emphasized.
In turn, Valery Kenyakin expressed deep gratitude to the South Ossetian leadership for their high recognition of his work. He thanked Znaur Gassiev for the honor and wished the people of the Rpublic peace, well-being, and prosperity.
