The International Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia are the important mechanism for preventing conflicts in the region, according to Konstantin Kochiev, State Advisor to President of South Ossetia.

According to him, although the format was not initially planned as long-term, practice has proven its indispensability.

"The discussions have become the important element in maintaining security and stability. This is probably their key role today. All the participating parties are convinced of this, having repeatedly noted that the format is a mechanism for ensuring predictability in the region and allows for open discussion of post-conflict settlement issues," Kochiev has emphasized.

Commenting on the results of the 66th round, the State Advisor has highlighted the level of participant representation, which, according to him, has reached its highest level in recent years.

Kochiev noted the participation of the UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East and Asia-Pacific Mohamed Khaled Khiari, as well as representative delegations from the United States and Russia, in the tripartite meeting.

"Russia was represented in the discussions by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, who is involved in such important negotiations as the Ukrainian issue. His personal participation in the Geneva discussions clearly demonstrates the attention Moscow is currently paying to this area," Kochiev has noted.

In conclusion, the Adviser added that maintaining this format remains strategically important for the Republic, as the discussions remain highly significant for all the parties involved.⁣⠀
