President Alan Gagloev named integration and strengthening friendly relations with Russia among the unconditional priorities shared by South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
Speaking at the International Economic Forum "Abkhazia – Investments in the Future" in Sukhum, the South Ossetian leader has emphasized that this choice is not only strategic but also largely civilizational in nature.
"The Russian Federation is as a reliable guarantor of peace and stability in the South Caucasus for South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Thanks to the established format of interaction, including the functioning of a unified security perimeter, we have been able to create strong conditions for preventing threats and ensuring a peaceful life for our citizens," Gagloev noted.
The economic component of this cooperation is no less significant, according to the president.
Gagloev has reminded that Russia consistently provides support for infrastructure modernization, social development, and investment projects.
This creates the foundation for sustainable economic growth, improved public welfare, and the strengthening of state institutions.
"It is important to emphasize that developing relations with Russia opens up additional opportunities for deepening cooperation between South Ossetia and Abkhazia, creating a unified space for cooperation in which our countries can more effectively implement joint initiatives, develop trade, transport links, and investment projects," the head of the Republic of South Ossetia emphasized.
Therefore, Gagloev has concluded, reliance on a strategic partnership with Russia is a crucial factor in long-term stability, predictability, and security in the region, and a guarantee of strengthening the international positions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
