South Ossetia will send humanitarian aid to the flooded Dagestan

South Ossetia will provide humanitarian aid to residents of Dagestan affected by severe flooding.

The Republic's Ministry of Emergency Situations is currently forming a convoy to send humanitarian aid to Makhachkala, the rescue agency's press service reports.

The Ministry has reported that, on the on the instruction of the South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev, the head of the Republic's Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ibrahim Gasseev, held telephone conversations with the head of Dagestan's Ministry of Emergency Situations, Nariman Kazimagamedov.

During the conversation, the head of the South Ossetian rescue agency expressed solidarity and support to the fraternal people of Dagestan, who had suffered as a result of the disaster.

Ibragim Gasseev has emphasized that the South Ossetian Ministry of Emergency Situations is ready to provide the republic with the necessary assistance. For his part, Nariman Kazimagamedov expressed gratitude to the leadership and people of South Ossetia for their attention and concern. He has noted that the region is currently facing a complex operational situation requiring the consolidation of forces and resources," the press service reports.

Following the talks, preliminary agreements were reached on specific cooperation mechanisms.

In particular, the Dagestani side expressed a need to organize drinking water supplies for residents living in the flooded area and experiencing interruptions in the centralized water supply.

It was assured that drinking water from South Ossetia would be sent to Dagestan in the near future.

Furthermore, in accordance with the President's instructions, personnel from the Republic's Ministry of Emergency Situations, if necessary to reinforce the Dagestan rescue team, will be promptly dispatched to the emergency zone to carry out practical flood relief tasks.
