In the hero city of Tskhinval, immediately after the ceremonial military parade, the "Immortal Regiment" march took place on Theater Square.
Over eight thousand residents of South Ossetia came out to honor the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for the Fatherland.
The march was led by the Republic's Prime Minister, Dzhambolat Tadtaev, Speaker of Parliament, Alan Margiev, and Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia, Marat Kulakhmetov.
Particular attention was drawn to the children of those killed in the special military operation zone, who marched in the front rows of the march.
Representatives of various organizations, ministries and agencies, the public joined the march, emphasizing the nationwide nature of the event.
To the sounds of wartime songs, the participants carried portraits of veterans and defenders who fell during the Great Patriotic War.
As in previous years, the Immortal Regiment also featured photographs of heroes who died repelling the Georgian aggression in 1989 -2008.
A total of 23,736 people from South Ossetia went to the front during the Great Patriotic War, of whom 11,700 were killed and over 7,000 went missing. Thirty-six Ossetians were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, eight of whom were from South Ossetia.
