Acting President of South Ossetia Marat Kambolov met with Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Sergey Nazarov, who arrived in the Republic with a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.

In Tskhinval, Marat Kambolov held a meeting with the Russian delegation on the implementation of the decisions of the Intergovernmental Commission on Socio-economic Cooperation between South Ossetia and the Russian Federation.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the Investment Program for Assistance to the Socio-economic Development of the Republic of South Ossetia for 2026–2028, priority projects, their financing mechanisms, and cooperation between the relevant agencies of the two countries.

The concessional lending program for investment projects was also discussed.

South Ossetia's Minister of Economic Development, Sarmat Kotaev, has reported that the previously submitted applications require significant revision. Therefore, the Ministry plans to announce a new competition.

Marat Kambolov has emphasized that when selecting projects, it is essential to consider the experience of previous years and, above all, assess their economic viability and benefit to the Republic's development.

"Previous experience has shown how carefully such decisions must be approached. We have no room for error. We need real, viable projects that will create jobs, generate new production, and benefit the Republic's economy," he has noted.

Kambolov instructed the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of South Ossetia to prepare specific proposals and ensure the high-quality development of each project.

Sergey Nazarov confirmed Russia's readiness to provide South Ossetia with the necessary assistance.

Another topic of the meeting was support for small and medium-sized business, including the development of intensive horticulture.

Marat Kambolov noted the potential of the agricultural sector for the South Ossetian economy.

"We already have successful examples in this area. We need to leverage the Republic's natural advantages and create conditions in which agriculture will provide people with a stable income and new opportunities for development. We will seriously consider this area," he said.

Following the meeting, the relevant agencies were instructed to continue working together to prepare investment projects and implement the socio-economic development programs in South Ossetia.
