The Russian party once again emphasized the need to step up efforts to ensure lasting security in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, according to the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry following a videoconference meeting between Deputy Minister Mikhail Galuzin and the co-chairs of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia.
In preparation for the next round scheduled for November, the Foreign Ministry has noted that current issues on the agenda of this important negotiating format were discussed in detail.
"In practical terms, attention should be focused on developing specific measures, primarily concerning providing official Tbilisi with guarantees of the non-use of force against Sukhum and Tskhinval, as well as launching the process of delimiting the Georgian-Abkhaz and the Georgian-South Ossetian state borders with their subsequent demarcation," the Foreign Ministry has stated.
The meeting was attended by the UN, OSCE, and EU co-chairs of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia
