South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioyev visited Brest, where he took part in events dedicated to Belarus Independence Day.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the main focus was on supporting the South Ossetian athletes participating in the III Open Republican Boxing Tournament dedicated to Belarus Independence Day.
South Ossetia is represented at the competition by David Tskhovrebov, Alim Gabaraev and Marat Dzhioev, led by the Coach Chermen Bestaev.
The opening ceremony took place the day before, where the South Ossetian flag was raised and the national anthem was performed.
Akhsar Dzhioev met with the South Ossetian athletes and wished them a successful performance.
In addition to sports events, the delegation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia visited a number of significant facilities in Brest.
In particular, a visit was made to the large enterprise "Gefest-Technika", which produces household gas appliances. The delegation got acquainted with the production capacity and products of the plant, and also held a conversation with the management.
They also visited the Brest City Polyclinic No. 5 and the Secondary School No. 1, where the delegation got acquainted with the innovative medical technologies and educational standards.
On the final day of the visit, the delegation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia honored the memory of Bagrat Maksimovich Dryaev, a native of South Ossetia and a participant in the Great Patriotic War, perished in the battles for the liberation of Belarus. He rests in a mass grave in the village of Chernavchitsy, Brest District.
The visit has become a symbolic act of memory and respect for the hero.
