South Ossetia has handed over to Georgia its citizen who has served a sentence for the illegally crossing the state border, the press service of the Republic's KGB reported on Wednesday.
According to the department, Giorgi Mosiashvili, a 37-year-old resident of the village of Perevi in the Sachkhere municipality who was detained at the end of 2023, found guilty by the Dzau District Court of the illegally crossing the border and sentenced to imprisonment.
It was established that the said violator intentionally crossed the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia in the vicinity of the settlement of Sinagur in Dzau District and carried out illegal extraction (fishing) of aquatic biological resources.
On Wednesday, due to the expiration of his sentence, Mosiashvili was released and handed over to the Georgian side in accordance with the established procedure.
The KGB warns that all possible directions of penetration of violators of the state border of the Republic are in the control zones and sectors of influence of the border forces of South Ossetia.
