The Embassy of South Ossetia reported on the results of the work to provide citizens with full access to the services of Russian companies

The Embassy of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation is constantly carrying out the systematic work to protect the rights and interests of citizens of the Republic for equal access to the services of transport, financial and other organizations of the Russian Federation, as well as to bring into compliance cases of incorrect use of political, geographical and other information by some organizations.

As reported by press service of the diplomatic mission, as part of this activity, monitoring of the services of the Russian airlines, railway carriers, banking structures, mobile operators and retail chains was carried out.

Following the interaction with the companies, the identified technical features were resolved in the working order.

Thus, the airlines Azur Air, Aeroflot, IrAero, Nordwind Airlines, NordStar, S7, Ural Airlines, after negotiations with the Embassy, ​​made the necessary changes to the software, thanks to which citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia were able to freely purchase airline tickets and check in online using their national passport.

Similar work was carried out with Russian Railways. Before the intervention of the Embassy, ​​the website of this carrier also did not offer the option of purchasing a ticket using a national passport.

Following a meeting with the management of VTB Bank, the issue was also resolved regarding the discrepancy between geographical names when filling out applications for a loan for natives of the Republic (when filling out online application for the provision of comprehensive services at the bank, in the column "Address of the place of stay", the system erroneously indicated: "Georgia, Tskhinvali").

The Embassy of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation highly appreciates the openness and readiness of VTB PJSC for dialogue and further cooperation aimed at providing high-quality services to citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia.

It was revealed that a number of chain stores in the Russian Federation were selling products marked with an image of a map of Georgia, which included the territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

The Embassy sent the official notes to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation with a request to take measures to prevent the distribution of products with the incorrect cartographic image.

As a result of the work carried out, these products were withdrawn from sale, and retail chains and suppliers were given appropriate explanations.

Monitoring of trading platforms in order to prevent such cases continues.

During the study of services in the telecommunications sector, it was established that when crossing the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia, subscribers of one of the Russian mobile operators receive a greeting message with the text: "Welcome to Georgia".

This technical failure in the roaming settings system leads to incorrect perception of the Republic's status.

Interaction with the telecom operator has been initiated to immediately resolve the above; the issue is under special control until it is fully resolved.

The Embassy highly appreciates the constructive interaction with the Russian partners and will continue to work aimed at further developing cooperation and ensuring the interests of the citizens of South Ossetia.
