On the first day of the Prodexpo-2026 International Exhibition, South Ossetia won two awards at the prestigious competition, Taimuraz Goginov, the Republic's trade representative in the Russian Federation, reports.
"The opening of the Prodexpo-2026 International Exhibition—the main professional Forum for the Russian food industry, ranked among the top 10 largest food exhibitions in the world—took place in Moscow on February 9, 2026.
On the first day of the exhibition, the results were announced and the winners of the 21st International Competition for the Best Packaging and Label, ProdExtraPak-2026, were awarded," Goginov said.
The advanced packaging solutions presented by the Trade Representative Office of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation received top marks from the experts.
"Two labels won the 'Food and Beverage Packaging' category. The first was from the high-mountain Kel Brewery for a series of packaging for Iryston beer, produced using mountain water, malt, and hops.
A wide range of products is available in the federal retail chains in major cities, including Moscow, Kaliningrad, Belgorod, and others," the Trade Representative said.
The second winner was the South Ossetian winery Ironsan, which received a diploma for a series of packaging for the TSARD wine.
"This producer's wines and cognacs are available in almost every region of the Russian Federation, from Kaliningrad to the Far East.
The competition jury evaluated the innovation of the design concept, the eco-friendliness of the materials used, the alignment with marketing objectives, and the degree of consumer appeal of the labels," Goginov has emphasized.
According to him, the competition is a key platform for showcasing cutting-edge achievements in packaging.
"Our labels incorporate ethnic symbols; they are vibrant yet concise, but most importantly, they are easy for consumers to understand. Iryston translates as Ossetia, and TSARD means life. And that's memorable. We promote the South Ossetian brand and are proud that our products are available in almost every federal retail chain," he has noted.
The competition was organized by the National Confederation of Packagers (NKPak) and the magazine "Tara i Upakovka," with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
Winning the ProdExtraPak competition entitles to use the winning logo on packaging, labels, or in promotional materials. This confirms the high quality and originality of the packaging, which enhances consumer loyalty and the marketing appeal of the product.
All the alcoholic beverages with the winning labels are on display at the South Ossetian stand. On the first day, it was attended by the regional wholesale companies, representatives of retail chains, and hospitality establishments.

The high-mountain Kel Brewery uses natural water from the mountain lake Kel, located at the altitude of 2,925 meters above sea level, to brew the Iryston beer.
During the production, the beer is aged in a cold cellar for 28 days, preserving its natural properties and superior quality.
The Ironsan Winery is a modern winery in Tskhinval that is reviving the region's winemaking traditions, producing wines and cognacs from local and imported grapes. It has a strong presence on the Russian market and exports to other countries.
