A ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the formation of the Special Police Detachment (OMON) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was held in Tskhinval.
President Alan Gagloev, the OMON veterans, the leadership of Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of other law enforcement agencies came to congratulate the OMON officers on their professional holiday.
During the ceremony, the head of state has emphasized that over the years, the unit has become a symbol of courage, fortitude, and devotion to duty.
According to him, the OMON officers have inscribed their names in gold letters in the history of the Ossetian people, often at the cost of their own lives.
"Since its creation the unit has been maintaining law and order and demonstrating a sincere love for the Motherland." "In the most difficult times, you were demonstrating courage and devotion to your oath, protecting the peace and security of our citizens," the President has noted.
Alan Gagloev expressed his deep gratitude to the veterans of the service, who were standing at the origins of the unit's formation and laid a solid foundation for its combat and professional traditions.
He has emphasized that the current generation of fighters worthily continues the work of their elder comrades, remaining a reliable pillar of the state.
Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia Erislav Mamiev congratulated the OMON officers on the latest anniversary of the unit's founding, noting its special role in the development and defense of the Republic.
In his speech, the Minister has emphasized that the OMON rightfully occupies a special place in the country's law enforcement system.
According to him, it was the unit's fighters who, during the most difficult years, were among the first to defend the Motherland, demonstrating courage, dedication, and loyalty to duty.
"Today, you continue your service with dignity, ensuring the safety of our citizens, law and order in the Republic," Erislav Mamiev has noted.
Veteran of the internal affairs agencies, Alan Guchmazov, expressed gratitude to the Republic's leadership for the attention and support shown to the detachment.
A number of the distinguished officers of the unit were awarded the state and departmental awards.
