South Ossetia is preparing to celebrate two significant dates: the 33rd anniversary of the of the national Ministry of Defense and Defender of the Fatherland Day.
As reported by the Republican Commission for preparation and holding of the state significant events, the program has been approved that will cover several days and has included official ceremonies, educational forums, cultural performances, and exhibitions.
The festive series will be opened on February 19. The K. Khetagurov State Drama Theater, at 1:00 PM, will host the forum "KNOWLEDGE. HEROES," which will be attended by heroes of the Russian Federation, the outstanding athletes and cultural figures.
The main block of the official and commemorative events is scheduled for February 20. The flower-laying ceremony at the "Defenders of the Fatherland" memorial will take place at 11:00 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., a flower-laying ceremony will take place at the chapel at the Memorial Cemetery in the courtyard of School No. 5. Then, at 12:00 p.m., a ceremonial public assembly, dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day will take place at the State Drama Theater," the Commission has noted.
The day's cultural program will conclude with a performance of Viktor Rozov's play "Forever Alive" at the State Drama Theater, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The culmination of the celebration on Monday, February 23, will be a joint exhibition of weapons and military equipment of the Defense Ministry of the Republic of South Ossetia and the 4th Guards Military Base, which will take place on Theater Square starting at 10:00 a.m.
