South Ossetia highly appreciates Syria's principled position as a sovereign state that respects the right of peoples to self-determination.
President Alan Gagloev noted this in his congratulatory telegram to the head of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed al-Sharaa, on the country's Independence Day.
Gagloev has emphasized that this day symbolizes the inviolability of sovereignty and the ancient traditions of the Syrian statehood.
"We have been observing with deep respect the efforts of the country's new leadership aimed at restoring peace, territorial integrity, and the state's economic potential after many years of conflict," the message reads.
The leader of South Ossetia expressed confidence that the time-tested relations between South Ossetia and Syria would continue to serve as the example of genuine friendship and mutual support.
"We are open to expanding bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest," Gagloev has assured.
He wished Ahmed al-Sharaa good health and success in pursuing the restoration and prosperity of the Syrian Arab Republic, and the friendly Syrian people long-awaited peace, sustainable development, and a bright future under a peaceful sky.
