A wreath and flower laying ceremony was held in Tskhinval at the Eternal Flame on the Alley of Glory in honor of the 95th anniversary of the Airborne Forces.

The event brought together veterans of the Airborne Forces, members of the public and young people.

As noted by Chairman of the Union of Paratroopers of South Ossetia Yuri Margiev, members of the organization gather at the Eternal Flame every year, where wreaths are laid.

“We celebrate the Airborne Forces Day every year, and this year is special for us – the 95th anniversary of its formation. We always gather at the Eternal Flame to honor the memory of the fallen and pay tribute to our brothers in arms,” Margiev said.

He has added that the organization currently has more than 70 members, and its ranks are replenished with young graduates of the Army General V. F. Margelov Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School.

“Many of our guys are now on the front lines, defending the interests of the Motherland,” Margiev has noted.

He has emphasized that South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev supported the paratroopers by allocating funds for the celebration.

“Thanks to Alan Eduardovich for his assistance. He supported us in previous years, not ignoring other holidays,” Margiev said. “Last year, he also helped several of our comrades with treatment.”

The “blue berets” holiday in South Ossetia, as well as throughout Russia, is celebrated annually on August 2.
