South Ossetia paid last tributes to Zaur Bestaev ("Besta"), a fighter of the separate sabotage and reconnaissance detachment "Alania", who had heroically died in the line of duty during the special military operation.

The funeral ceremony brought together many people wishing to pay tribute to the memory of the brave warrior.

Among those present were President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, representatives of the security forces, comrades-in-arms, friends and relatives of the deceased.

At the funeral ceremony it was noted that Zaur Bestaev was a brave warrior, a devoted friend and a reliable comrade-in-arms.

"He always showed respect for his elders, and in the special military operation zone he proved his bravery and courage with honor, remaining a loyal friend and reliable comrade. The pain of loss is irreparable, but his memory will live forever in our hearts," Besaev's comrades in arms said.

Zaur's life ended at the age of 32. His little daughter was left without a father.

By decree of the head of state, Zaur Bestayev was awarded (posthumously) the Medal "Defender of the Fatherland" for his courage and heroism.
