A ceremonial event dedicated to the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation was held in the capital of South Ossetia.

The holiday brought together many guests who came to celebrate the day of one of the most important state symbols of Russia.

Addressing the audience, Adviser to the Russian Embassy in South Ossetia Igor Terziyan emphasized the commonality of the holiday for the entire Russian world.

"Today, the Russian Federation and the entire large Russian world, including South Ossetia, are celebrating the Day of the Russian Flag. Just as the battle flag of a unit is a symbol of military glory, valor, so the state flag of Russia is a symbol of the glory of our country. This banner is flying over all the nations and peoples of our great Motherland. Our soldiers go into battle with this banner. Our athletes raise this banner and today our children hold it in their hands. So let this banner always proudly fly over us for the glory of the Russian Federation,” Terziyan said.

The head of the Russian House in Tskhinval, Sergei Komissarov, also addressed the guests of the event with congratulations. He noted the special significance of the flag as a unifying symbol.

“The flag of the Russian Federation is, of course, a symbol of our country, a symbol of Russia. On the territory of South Ossetia, on this beautiful land, there are many citizens of our country who also celebrate this holiday together with all of great Russia. This symbol is not just our pride. Under this banner, many years ago, our ancestors were fighting for their freedom and independence, their right to sovereign existence and statehood. We honor both the memory of our ancestors and the symbols we have,” Komissarov said.

During the holiday, children were reciting poems, patriotic songs were being sung, and flash mobs were organized. All participants of the event were given symbols with the flag - ribbons and flags, as well as sweet treats for the youngest guests of the holiday.
