The South Ossetian and Abkhazian peoples have long been linked by bonds of strong friendship and true brotherhood, which have been further strengthened by the similarity of historical paths.
This was confirmed by the simultaneous decision of the Russian Federation to recognize the sovereign status and state independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, the leader of the RSO Alan Gagloev has noted in his congratulation to his Abkhazian colleague Badra Gunba on the Independence Recognition Day.
Gagloev has emphasized that every citizen of Abkhazia and South Ossetia has gone through a difficult path of struggle for their own freedom and independence.
"On August 26, 2008, justice prevailed, and the historic decision of the Russian Federation leadership to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia marked the beginning of a new stage in strengthening the statehood of the Republic," Gagloev has noted.
He has also emphasized that the positive trends observed in Abkhazia, the country's stable progress in developing statehood, and achievements in socio-economic sphere testify to the high potential of the Abkhaz people, who have chosen freedom, and to the correctness of the decision of the Russian Federation leadership to recognize the sovereignty and state independence of Abkhazia.
President of the Republic of South Ossetia has expressed confidence that Abkhazia will continue to develop in the given direction, and fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples will be developing and strengthening every year.
