A military parade commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Republic's proclamation has begun on Tskhinval's Theater Square.
Observing the parade from the stands are the officials of the Republic, led by the South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev, Abkhazian President Badra Gunba, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kiriyenko, and delegations from friendly republics that have arrived for the celebrations.
The event began with the carrying of the South Ossetian national flag and the battle banner of the Republic's Armed Forces onto the square.
The military parade is being reviewed by the Republic's Minister of Defense, Guards Lieutenant General Yuri Yarovitsky.
The units from the South Ossetian Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency Situations, the KGB Border Service, Ministry of Justice, the 4th Russian Guards Military Base, and the FSB Border Directorate will march in a ceremonial parade through Theater Square.
The event is being held with the involvement of military equipment
