The ratification of the agreement between the governments of South Ossetia and Abkhazia on trade regime was discussed in Tskhinval at the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Policy and Inter-parliamentary relations, chaired by Zaza Driaev. This was reported by the press service of Parliament of South Ossetia.

It was noted that the agreement was developed based on the sovereign right of each country to conduct the independent foreign economic policy, with the intention of facilitating the creation of a single market for goods, services, capital, and labor.

According to Sarmat Kotaev, Minister of Economic Development of South Ossetia, who was present at the committee meeting, this agreement was developed to develop trade and economic cooperation between South Ossetia and Abkhazia, similar to the agreement signed with the Russian Federation at the economic forum.

During the discussion, Kotaev has noted that, according to the document, the parties will not impose customs duties on each other. He also expressed hope that, after the document's ratification, entrepreneurs from both countries will establish contacts to increase mutual trade.

Furthermore, Kotaev has added that there are numerous joint social projects between the two countries, many relevant social agreements, but there is no corresponding document on the economy.

He asked the deputies to support this initiative.

The discussion will continue at the meeting of the Presidium of Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia.
