South Ossetia will continue constructive cooperation with Venezuela despite the worsening political crisis in the country, Acting Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev announced during the press conference.

He has noted that Tskhinval officially condemns the abduction of President Nicolás Maduro, considering it a gross violation of the UN Charter, but does not intend to curtail diplomatic contacts with the state that has recognized the Republic's independence.

"We are looking forward to continue constructive engagement with the Venezuelan leadership. Delcy Rodriguez, who is currently acting president, was formerly Minister of Foreign Affairs. We believe that we must continue to take steps to maintain the existing contacts and further developing them," the Minister said.

Dzhioev has added that diplomatic channels between the countries remain open and operating normally. A series of important ambassadorial meetings have been held in recent days, confirming their mutual interest in dialogue.

"There are no preconditions for changing the status quo that has emerged between us and Venezuela since the recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations. We are closely monitoring the situation in Latin America and are committed to constructive cooperation," he has emphasized.

Dzhioev has noted that colleagues from the Russian Federation, in particular the Russian Foreign Ministry, are providing significant practical assistance in developing diplomatic relations, and that joint efforts will further develop foreign policy contacts.
