The South Ossetian KGB Border Service reminded citizens and visitors to the Republic (tourists) planning to travel to the border zone of the need to have the appropriate documents.

"Citizens planning to travel, including for recreation and to attend festive or memorial events must have identification documents—a passport, service ID, or birth certificate (for minors).

Furthermore, foreign citizens must have a border zone pass," the KGB press service stated.

The heads of organizations and enterprises must obtain the appropriate permits for economic, commercial, and other activities near the state border at least three days in advance from the Border Service (1 Khetagurov Street, Tskhinval, tel. 45-43-43), the agency added.

"Intentional violation of legal regulations established at the state border and border areas, as well as obstruction of the lawful actions of the border service officers to conduct control and security measures, entails not only administrative but, in some cases, criminal liability," the press service has noted.

The Border Service of the KGB calls on citizens of the Republic to send any information about violations, as well as negative phenomena and processes in the border area, to ps.rso@mail.ru.

The KGB has noted that the confidentiality and security of the applicant are guaranteed.
