South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev held the official meeting with a delegation from the Abkhazian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who had arrived in the Republic on a working visit.
The delegation is headed by the Abkhazian Foreign Minister Oleg Bartsits.
Acting Foreign Minister of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev and Abkhazia's Ambassador to the Republic Alan Elbakiev also participated in the discussion of the current agenda.
The parties focused on key aspects of bilateral cooperation, regional security, and outlined further steps to strengthen the strategic partnership between the fraternal republics.
Opening the meeting, Alan Gagloev emphasized the historical common destinies of the two peoples.
The President particularly noted the role of the volunteer movement in the development of the Abkhazian statehood.
"We remember very well that Abkhazia and South Ossetia have gone through difficult path. We overcame the path to independence and recognition in the most dignified way, always offering each other a fraternal shoulder.
Among the volunteers who helped to defend Abkhazia's freedom were the Ossetian young people, many of whom fell on the battlefield. I want to express my deep gratitude for preserving the memory of their heroism, supporting their families, and not forgetting the volunteers who are with us today and helped to establish our fraternal republic," the head of state said.
Alan Gagloev has also noted that the recognition of the two republics' sovereignty in 2008 marked a new turning point in their history.
He has emphasized that today South Ossetia and Abkhazia stand united with the Russian Federation in defense of the shared values.
"Russia and other countries that have recognized us continue to provide invaluable support." Today, we are moving forward together with our strategic partner, the Russian Federation.
Once again, we must prove that we will not allow our history to be rewritten or our values to be altered.
A clear example of this is the military brotherhood of the Ossetian and Abkhaz soldiers, who are participating shoulder to shoulder with the peoples of Russia in this special military operation," the President added.
Oleg Bartsits thanked the South Ossetian leadership for the warm welcome, noting the exceptional level of trust between the countries.
"We are in the fraternal, friendly state with a feeling of deep inspiration.
In South Ossetia, we feel like we are with true brothers, allies, and partners. Our relations are based on solid legal framework, which provides significant potential for further cooperation.
"I would like to express my special gratitude for creating the most comfortable conditions for the work of our diplomatic mission, headed by Alan Mukharbegovich, as well as for close and constructive cooperation established with the South Ossetian Ministry of Foreign Affairs," the Minister has emphasized.
