South Ossetia has the full right to enter into any international treaties that meet its national interests.
A representative of the Republic's Foreign Ministry made this statement in response to a statement by Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament's Committee on International Relations, during his speech at the 33rd annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
The Foreign Ministry has emphasized that accusations of "annexation" are nothing more than the attempt by official Tbilisi to distort reality and shift responsibility for its own aggressive actions and historical mistakes.
"Nikoloz Samkharadze's statement, in which he, among other things, calls the Treaty of Deepening Allied Cooperation between South Ossetia and the Russian Federation signed on May 9 'a desperate attempt by Moscow to consolidate the occupation and facilitate the de facto annexation of the territories internationally recognized as the integral part of Georgia,' once again demonstrates the Georgian side's complete rejection of international legal realities," the Ministry`s representative has noted.
He has noted, it's high time that no statements by the Georgian politicians can change the status of the Republic of South Ossetia.
