Prayers were held in churches in Tskhinval for all the fallen defenders of the Fatherland and civilians of Abkhazia.
On Friday, August 14, Abkhazia has been commemorating the beginning of the 1992-1993 Patriotic War.
Participating in the service were South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev, Abkhazia's Ambassador to the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Elbakiev, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of South Ossetia Dzambolat Tadtaev, representatives of the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Sergey Tadtaev, as well as volunteers and parishioners.
On this day, memorial and mourning events are taking place throughout Abkhazia.
South Ossetian Ambassador Astamur Katsia, along with volunteers from South and North Ossetia, participated in a flower-laying ceremony at the memorial to those killed in the 1992-1993 Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia in Glory Park in Sukhum.
