Joining the Union State is one of the possible and most promising options for South Ossetia, President Alan Gagloev said in his interview with Izvestia.

On the eve of the Day of Recognition of State Independence, which will be celebrated on August 26, the head of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev gave a detailed interview to the newspaper about the historical choice of the path of rapprochement with Russia, Georgia's proposals to join the EU together, and Tskhinval's actions to develop international cooperation.

A joint archaeological expedition was discussed with Russian specialists at the South Ossetian State University on Friday, the university's press service told IA "Res".

South Ossetia and Abkhazia are the independent states recognized by the Russian Federation and other member states of the United Nations, and their sovereign status cannot be a subject of discussion, the MFA of the Republic of South Ossetia noted, commenting on the statements of a number of the UN Security Council member states.

"The event was organized by the official representative office of Abkhazia in Transnistria," the press service has noted.

On the eve of the evening, a commemorative event was held at the Memorial Complex "To Defenders of the Fatherland" in Tskhinval in solidarity with the people of Abkhazia on the 32nd anniversary of the outbreak of the Patriotic War.

The event was attended by employees of the Presidential Executive Office, Ambassador of Abkhazia to South Ossetia Alan Elbakiev, members of Parliament, representatives of the law enforcement agencies, the public, and youth.

In July, 24 violators of the established legal regimes were detained in South Ossetia at various sections of the state border of the Republic, including 14 violators of the state border regime and 10 violators of the border regime, the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia reports.
