South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev has received representatives of the "Mothers of Beslan" committee who arrived in the Republic for the mourning events on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Zar tragedy.

Gagloev thanked the guests for their unity and support, having emphasizing that the Ossetian people had to go through many tragedies, "but in difficult times they always showed solidarity."

The head of state noted that during the Beslan tragedy, many young people in both north and south Ossetia were ready to sacrifice themselves to save children.

Among the bloody crimes committed by the Georgian fascist regimes in different years as a result of the policy of genocide of the Ossetian people, the Zar tragedy is particular cruel. This is stated in a statement by the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Zar massacre.

The department has reminded that on May 20, 1992, on the Zar "road of life", the Georgian armed forces ambushed a motorcade of peaceful Ossetian citizens who were trying to escape from the blockaded Tskhinval and inhumanly shot them in pointblank.

South Ossetia has honored the memory of the Zar tragedy the victims. Flowers and wreaths were laid at the "Grieving Mother" obelisk - a monument to the victims of the terrible events of 33 years ago.

Exactly 33 years ago, on May 20, 1992, on the Zar road, which was then called the "road of life", a column of unarmed, innocent people was shot. 33 civilians - women, children, and old people - were shot in cold blood by the Georgian fascists.

On the 33rd anniversary of the Zar tragedy, South Ossetian Ambassador to Russia Znaur Gassiev addressed the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow, as well as the Georgian Interests Section at the Swiss Embassy, ​​the press service of the diplomatic agency reports.

“33 years ago, time stopped for the 33 civilians of South Ossetia on the Zar Road of Life. The mournful date of May 20, 1992 will remain in the history of the Republic of South Ossetia and in the memory of the entire Ossetian people as one of the most tragic days.

Minister of Justice of South Ossetia Alan Dzhioev took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the "Broken Ring" memorial in St. Petersburg, the press service of the department reports.

The delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia is participating in the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

"The memorial dedicated to the siege of Leningrad is located on the western shore of Lake Ladoga," the press service has noted.

The guests of the SPILF-2025 also visited the branch of the Central Naval Museum "The Road of Life".

On the Day of Remembrance and Mourning - May 20 (the 33rd anniversary of the Zar tragedy) memorial events will be held in South Ossetia, the Republican Commission for the preparation and holding of socially significant events reports.

In Tskhinval, Ruslan Kumaritov, perished while performing his military duty in the area of ​​the special military operation in the Kursk direction, was seen off on his final journey.
