The in-depth consultations between the Co-Chairs of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia demonstrate the readiness of all parties to continue working together. This was stated by Christoph Späti, the OSCE Co-Chair of the format, at the briefing in Tskhinval following a meeting with his South Ossetian counterparts.

The diplomat has noted that the participants intend to continue interacting on key issues: security, freedom of movement, and the fate of detainees.

Security issues on the South Ossetian-Georgian border remain top of the agenda for the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meetings, Yegor Kochiev, head of the South Ossetian delegation, told reporters while summing up the 135th meeting.

According to him, since the previous meeting on September 8, the situation along the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia has remained calm, stable, and predictable.

The issue of the removal of the illegal Georgian police post near the village of Uista in Znaur District was discussed again at the 135th meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM). Yegor Kochiev, head of the South Ossetian delegation, announced this to journalists.

According to him, South Ossetia had previously proposed various solutions to the problem, but the Georgian party has not demonstrated any willingness to dismantle the post.

Economic development, job creation, and the development of the Republic's own sources of income were the main topics of a working meeting between the South Ossetian President Marat Kambolov and a delegation of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, led by Deputy Minister Sergei Nazarov.

The head of state has emphasized that the economy must provide people with jobs and businesses -with opportunities for growth; therefore, the key task is to identify and develop the main drivers of economic growth in South Ossetia.

Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sergey Nazarov paid a working visit to South Ossetia, the Russian Embassy press service reports.

"During the visit, he held a bilateral meeting with the South Ossetian President Marat Kambolov, participated in a working meeting on socio-economic cooperation between Russia and South Ossetia, and inspected the sites for implementation of the joint investment projects," the press service has noted.

Denis Fyodorov, Chargé d'Affaires of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia, participated in the talks.

The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry commented on the OSCE Chairman-in-Office's visit to the border area near the Republic.

"On October 16, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, visited the border area near South Ossetia as part of his visit to Georgia.

It's no secret that it has become a sort of 'good tradition' for Western politicians visiting Tbilisi to visit our border to once again criticize Russia and South Ossetia, portraying Georgia as an 'innocent victim,'" the Ministry has stated.

Soslan Margiev's candidacy for Prime Minister, nominated by the South Ossetian President Marat Kambolov, was considered at the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation, Rule of Law, and Local Self-Government.

The meeting was chaired by the head of the Committee Zita Besaeva, the legislative body's press service reports.

"The corresponding submission was sent to all the committees and commissions, which gave a positive opinion, so today our task is to decide whether to submit this issue for consideration by the presidium and session," Besaeva said.
