On commenting the statement of Slovenia Foreign Minister Dmitry Rupel (“There is no liaison between Kosovo, Abkhazia and South Ossetia”) the Deputy Prime Minister of RSO who is also the Head of South Ossetian part of Joint Control Commission on Georgian-Ossetian conflict settlement Boris Chochiev made a statement: “Indeed Kosovo has nothing in common with South Ossetia neither from political nor legal point of view.
Today the sitting of the Security Council of RSO took place. President Eduard Kokoity opened the sitting. The sitting was participated by the Speaker of Parliament Znaur Gassiev as well as the range of heads of ministries and departments. The participants discussed measures on legality observing and struggle with corruption in the Republic. Acting attorney-general of RSO Eldar Kokoev acted as a main reporter. He suggested elaborating and submitting a law of corruption which would allow straggling with this negative occurrence more thoroughly and in complex.
In Tskhinval–the capital of the Republic of South Ossetia a photo-exhibition “Woman face of South Ossetia” is held. The exhibition is organized by a Non-government organization “Journalists for human rights” supported by Ministry of Culture of RSO. The exhibition is the final event of the same name project, in 2007 a round table on gender problems was held and a brochure “Let’s think how to help!?” was also issued in the framework of this project.
At the illegal checkpoint in Ergneti village the Georgian police already more then week doesn’t allow to pass loads and goods to the Ossetian inhabited areas of Leningori region of the RSO thus blockade the inhabitants of the region. The correspondent of IA “Res” was told about this accident at the Leningori press department.
An inhabitant of v. Tamarasheni who asked not to mention his name told about the incident happened in the end of 2007 in the residence of Tbilisi protégé, head of marionette regime D. Sanakoev. On 26 December a cluster of Kheiti villagers came up to the residence intending to address to D. Sanakoev with a request to compromise to RSO Government and if only temporarily reopen the road to Tskhinval.
President of RSO Eduard Kokoity met the heads of Ministries, departments, heads of administrations and districts of Republic.
In the beginning of the meeting Eduard Kokoity thanked Republic road services which operatively coped with road clearing in highlands in difficult weather conditions.
President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity awarded the best journalists of 2007 with diplomas and monetary prizes. The awards were presented on 2 February. Correspondents of “Res” Information Agency were also among laureates. The awards were presented to them in nomination of “On-line information”.
The situation with water supply to Tskhinval (the capital of RSO) becomes worse day by day. And the most curios thing is that the cause of the crisis has not found yet. Numerous monitoring were held with participation of peacekeepers and OSCE observers. The experts from Ossetian and Georgian sides examine the water pipe. The measures of water in the nearly one meter in diameter pipe are conducting in various places. But the reason is made public only like versions.
The President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity met Head of the OSCE Mission to Georgia Terhi Hakala.
The South Ossetian side was represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs of RSO Murat Djioev, co-chairman of JCC from South Ossetian side Boris Chochiev and the President State Adviser Konstantin Kochiev.
The President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity held a meeting with the representatives of RSO Government and city administration of Tskhinval and with the priest of Alanian Eparchy. At the meeting was discussed the project of rehabilitation of the “Red Church” – an Orthodox church at the northern outskirts of Tskhinval damaged during the earthquake in 1991 and in the result of the bombardment of the town by the Georgian armed formations in 1991-1992.
