South Ossetia joined the international "Memory Flame" campaign.
In Tskhinval, on Tuesday, a solemn ceremony of meeting a particle of the Eternal Flame from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow took place on the Alley of Glory.
The lamp with the flame was delivered to the Republic by representatives of the Popular Front, led by the well-known Russian poet, singer and composer Igor Kornilov.
Handing over the "Memory Flame", he expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to participate in this campaign.
"It is a great honor for me and my family to be here today and hand over this particle of the Eternal Flame.
Fire is, first of all, a memory of our great victory, our great people, and, of course, the guys who are now in the special military operation zone.
I am glad that we are holding this event again, and it is a great honor for me to be here in Tskhinval, in the heart of South Ossetia, and to pass on a piece of the eternal flame. Victory will be ours! ", - the singer said.
Prime Minister of the Republic Konstantin Dzhussoev emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and the unity of peoples in the fight against fascism.
"The eternal flame unites generations and peoples, reminding us of the great price that millions of people paid.
South Ossetia is proud to take part in this event.
The Ossetian people made the outstanding contribution to the Great Victory. The Ossetians took first place among the peoples of the USSR in the number of Heroes per capita... There was no family that was not touched by the pain of loss, but, despite this terrible price, our people did not waver.
Knowing the price of war, we feel with particular acuteness the importance of preserving the historical truth, the memory of those who were fighting against fascism...", - Dzhussoev said.
The Prime Minister has continued that today, when the history of World War II is being deliberately distorted, the events such as the "Memory Flame" are of particular importance.
"They remind us of the need to preserve the spiritual, patriotic values bequeathed by the generation of victors.
Let a piece of the Eternal Flame, brought across borders and thousands of kilometers, become a symbol of brotherhood, the unity of our aspirations and the continuity of generations.
On behalf of the people of South Ossetia, I express my deep gratitude to the organizers of the event, all the participants of the motor rally, volunteers, servicemen - everyone who preserves this memory," he has concluded.
Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, congratulating the residents of the Republic on the upcoming Victory Day, called on everyone to preserve the memory of the feat of their ancestors and maintain peace.
"The Eternal Flame is the memory of the generation of victors, which we are obliged to preserve. On the eve of our great holiday, I want to congratulate everyone on our Great Victory, wish you health and prosperity. May the fire in your hearts never go out, may the hearth always burn and be warm in your homes. We are obliged to win on this difficult day, when the entire West is fighting us, and we will win! ", - Kulakhmetov has emphasized.
Konstantin Dzhussoev handed over a particle of the fire to the head of the Tskhinval administration Alan Gabaraev and the heads of district administrations, where the "Flame of Memory" will also be delivered.
The lamp with a particle of the Eternal Flame brought from the Kremlin wall was transferred for storage to the museum of the South Ossetian State University.
During the event, pupils of the school No. 2 presented a literary and musical composition. The event ended with a ceremony of laying flowers at the Eternal Flame.
