A photo exhibition "08.08.08 - 08.08.25" will be opened in Tskhinval, dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the Georgian aggression against South Ossetia in August 2008. The event will take place at the memorial complex "To the Defenders of the Fatherland".
As director of the National Museum Merab Zasseev told IA "Res", the exhibition would allow visitors to see the most relevant and significant moments captured in photographs, demonstrating the period from the moment of aggression to the present day.
"The basis of the exhibition will be photographic material reflecting the consequences of the August war and their current state. There will be sixteen works on display, illustrating what the destruction was like in 2008 and how everything has changed by now,” Zasseev said.
The photographs are intended to show not only the destruction, but also how South Ossetia has changed over the past years.
“Our exhibits are a kind of comparative analysis, for example, of the Parliament building: what it looked like then and what it looks like now. The photographs will reflect the key moments that happened in 2008 and were captured. We have already exhibited some of the photographs earlier. We will present some for the first time,” the museum director has clarified.
The opening of the photo exhibition will take place on August 7 at 19:00.
