A representative of South Ossetia is taking part in the XII regional conference of Russian compatriots in neighboring countries.

The event on the topic "The Russian World in Defense of the Victory Heritage: History, Culture, Continuity of Generations" is taking place in Bishkek, Svetlana Kotaeva, Chairperson of the Coordinating Council of Public Organizations of Russian Compatriots (KSORS), who is representing the Republic at the Forum, told IA "Res".

The conference participants are actively discussing the consolidation of the Russian community abroad, the preservation of historical truth, as well as the international legal framework for protecting the rights of compatriots and promoting the Russian language in the post-Soviet space.

At the conference, Kotaeva made a report on the topic: "Continuity of Generations in the Worldwide Movement of Compatriots: Youth as the Future Foundation for the Movement."

In her speech, she has emphasized that the global compatriot movement plays a key role in maintaining cultural, historical and spiritual ties between Russian-speaking communities abroad.

However, according to her, the sustainability and further development of the movement are impossible without active continuity of generations.

"Young people are the future foundation of the movement, and it is their involvement that will determine whether the traditions, language and unity of the Russian Diaspora will be preserved in the long term," she said.

In her report, Kotaeva gave the examples of successful initiatives, such as Rossotrudnichestvo programs, youth forums and volunteer projects that help young people feel the connection with Russia and find like-minded people.

Particular attention was paid to the importance of preserving historical memory, cultural heritage, strengthening common values and exchanging experiences between generations.

"The continuity of generations is the key to the viability of the compatriot movement. By investing in young people, we ensure their future. It is important not only to pass on knowledge, but also to give young leaders the opportunity to show initiative. Only in this way will the movement remain alive, relevant and unifying,” concluded Kotaeva.

The conference also plans to discuss issues of preparation for the World Thematic Conference of Compatriots Living Abroad, “The 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory. Preserve the Historical Truth,” which will be held in Moscow in October 2025.

A final document will be adopted following the conference, and the place and time of the next conference of Russian compatriots from neighboring countries will be determined.
