The South Ossetian delegation led by Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev and the Abkhaz leadership, led by President Badra Gunba, attended the equestrian competitions at the historic Mykuashta glade, the Prime Minister's press service reported.
The spectacular event was timed to coincide with Victory Day and Independence Day of the Republic of Abkhazia and attracted hundreds of spectators.
Six teams competed for the championship.
Furthermore, the South Ossetian delegation and the Abkhaz leadership, led by President Badra Gunba, visited the Mokva Cathedral, built in the 10th century during the reign of the Abkhazian King Leon III.
The attendees were briefed on the history of this sacred site.
The Mokva Cathedral is considered one of the most significant architectural landmarks in the entire Caucasus region. It is a cross-domed church with five naves, unique to Abkhazia.
