The issue of removing the Georgian police post near the village of Uista remains a key issue for South Ossetia. Yegor Kochiev, head of the South Ossetian delegation to the IPRM, told journalists.
According to him, this issue is raised at every meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism.
"Such issues cannot be resolved within a single meeting or a single request. However, the work is underway in this direction, and there have already been some positive developments," Kochiev has noted.
He cited the criminal prosecution of the former Georgian Prime Minister and Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia as one of the positive developments.
According to the head of the delegation, he was the initiator of the installation of this post.
As emphasized by Kochiev, one of the charges against him is the attempt to destabilize the situation by establishing a police post near the village of Uista.
The head of the South Ossetian delegation has also emphasized that South Ossetia continues to actively work on this issue.
"For us, there is no alternative other than the complete dismantling of this post and its withdrawal from the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia," he has concluded.
