The 66th round of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) on security in Transcaucasia demonstrated the participants' serious commitment to constructive work. This was stated by Konstantin Kochiev, State Advisor to President of South Ossetia, summing up the diplomatic meeting.

According to the South Ossetian party the meeting was productive.

The main outcome was the confirmation of all parties' readiness to continue dialogue, primarily on the key document on the non-use of force.

"Overall, we believe that the meeting was productive. This refers, firstly, to the reaffirmed commitment of all participants to continuing this work. The general mood and spirit that prevailed at the meetings speaks to the seriousness of their intentions to move forward in strengthening security," Kochiev has noted.

The State Advisor has emphasized that, despite the length of the negotiation process, the Geneva discussions have become the indispensable tool for ensuring regional stability and predictability.

During the briefing, Kochiev focused on a pressing humanitarian issue: the systematic violation of the rights of Ossetians from the Tyrsygom Valley (Kazbegi District, Georgia). For many years, the Georgian authorities have been denying them access to their homes, ancestral lands, and ancestral graves.

"These are Ossetians from Tyrsygom who have been deprived of access to their ancestral lands. Of course, this is absolutely unacceptable and outrageous. For several years, we have been highlighting this painful issue and calling for the end to the violations of the rights of our brothers who were forced to leave their ancestral lands," the State Advisor has concluded.
