The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry drew attention to the tone of recent statements by the Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze regarding the work of the new Special Representative for Relations with Russia, which were reported by local media.
The Georgian Prime Minister reiterated that Tbilisi will under no circumstances recognize "the so-called Republic of South Ossetia and the so-called Republic of Abkhazia" and has no intention of concluding any agreements with them—a position, he stated, the new Special Representative will adhere to.
"It is regrettable that Tbilisi continues to use derogatory terminology toward the peoples of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and their choices, openly demonstrating its disrespect," the Foreign Ministry stated. "Such a painful reaction once again confirms the existence of 'phantom pains' among the Georgian leadership and the difficulties in navigating the 'transition period' from denial to acceptance and recognition of reality."
The Mnistry once again called on the Georgian side to engage in equal and respectful dialogue within the existing negotiation format.
