Bank of Alania's "Vasso Abaev" banknote with a denomination of 200 zarins was presented at the large-scale international exhibition Hong Kong Coin Show, the agency's press service reported.
The event in Hong Kong attracted hundreds of dealers and thousands of bonistic enthusiasts from virtually every country in the world.
According to the official dealer of the National Bank of South Ossetia, the success of the second banknote exceeded expectations; a batch of the banknotes was purchased by the Asian specialists.
"Previously, at the exhibition in the Netherlands, the "Vasso Abaev" banknote was purchased by dealers from Spain, Portugal, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, South and North America, and Iran," the bank has noted.
According to the dealer, the banknote's theme and design have attracted considerable attention.
"Buyers are drawn to Vasso Abaev's personality; they're interested in his contributions to science, his work, and his homeland, Ossetia.
I really like the reverse side with the landscapes and deer, and the expressiveness of the endangered animals. I also noticed the security features on the banknote, a unique additional security strip," the dealer said.
On September 20, Bank of Alania introduced a new commemorative 200-zarin banknote dedicated to the outstanding Ossetian scientist Vasso Abaev. This is the second commemorative banknote in a series dedicated to prominent figures in Ossetia.
The first 100-zarin banknote, "Kosta Khetagurov," was issued in 2025.
