Eduard Kokoity: «We must restore historical justice and unite Ossetian people who wish to be just with Russia»

The President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity received guests who arrived to the «Edinstvo» party jubilee from Russia, RNO-Alania, including the deputies from Russian Federation State Duma «Edinaya Rossia» group, representatives of «Edinaya Rossia» from the North Caucasus republics and the Moscow city Duma as well as the Cossacks from the Great Don Army headed by the Ataman, Cossack general Victor Vodolatsky.

Georgian side removed blockade of Ossetian villages

On 6 April 2008 the Georgian side removed a total blockade of the Ossetian villages of Leningor, Znaur and Tskhinval districts of the Republic of South Ossetia. The Georgian government took this decision in the consequence of international community’s pressure, first of all OSCE and the International Community of Red Cross. JCC South Ossetian part co-chairman Boris Chochiev has actively interacted all these days with the Head of OSCE Mission to Georgia Terhi Hakkala and her deputy Veselin Nikolaev as well as the Head of ICRC delegation to Georgia Dominic Liengme and the other representatives of international political and humanitarian organizations, who has condemned barbarian, middle-aged methods of military and police blockades of the peaceful villages.

In connection with deterioration of situation over South Ossetia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of RSO M. K. Djioev directed letters to EC Secretary General Terry Davis, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Ilkka Kanerva, Permanent Representative of Russian Federation in UN Vitaly Churkin, Russian Federation Representative in NATO Dmitry Rogozin. Presenting my high confidence to You, I consider it strongly essential to draw Your attention again to serious exacerbation of the relations between Georgia and the Republic of South Ossetia since 1989 having been in the state of unregulated conflict, to the continuing escalation of tension in the region having come to the breaking point and to nascent menace of military actions.
