The South Ossetian side considers the participation in the Geneva discussions useful and advocates continuing the dialogue and finding new ways to increase efficiency and advance work in this format.

This is stated in the statement by the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the format.

The Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia were created on October 15, 2008 after Georgia's armed attack on South Ossetia and forcing the aggressor to peace, in accordance with the Medvedev-Sarkozy agreements.

In South Ossetia on Friday, October 13, a meeting of the Commission on Cooperation of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Parliament of the Republic will be held, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Zaza Driaev told IA “Res”.

As noted by Driaev, as part of the work of the Commission, the parties will discuss important issues facing the Republic.

Over the past 15 years, Russia and South Ossetia have laid a strong foundation for cooperation and built interaction in almost all areas. This was stated by Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko at the meeting with the head of the Republic’s parliament Alan Alborov.

The main topic of the conversation was issues of inter-parliamentary interaction.

Recognition of the two sovereign states - South Ossetia and Abkhazia will take place sooner or later, and they will take their places in the United Nations, said Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, during the Moscow-Sukhum-Tskhinval video bridge on the Sputnik-South Ossetia platform.

In his opinion, this issue will largely depend on the results of the special military operation.

Georgia is trying in every possible way to avoid signing a document on the non-use of force, said Konstantin Kochiev, State Advisor President of the Republic of South Ossetia, head of the working group at the Geneva discussions, during the Moscow-Sukhum-Tskhinval video bridge on the Sputnik - South Ossetia platform.

He has noted that South Ossetia has been working on this issue for a long time, “but so far it has not been possible to come to any results.”

The Geneva discussions are not only meetings in Geneva itself, during which there is a short and tough discussion of the agenda, it is also daily work, when hotlines work on all sides, and there is a constant dialogue on cross-border issues. Georgia is trying to achieve the international discussion of the refugee problem at the UN General Assembly without the participation of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Vyacheslav Chirikba, director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, said during the Moscow-Sukhum-Tskhinval video bridge on the Sputnik-South Ossetia platform.

“We are for all parties - representatives of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Georgia - to participate in the discussion, but Georgia is against our participation,” he said.

The head of the South Ossetian Parliament Alan Alborov and Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin signed a cooperation agreement in Moscow on Monday, the press service of the Republic of South Ossetia reports.

“We are reaching a new level of cooperation, filling our work with concrete content. This is our contribution to the development of relations between the countries on the part of parliaments; it will give impetus to interaction,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.

From October 8 to 11, Chairman of the Parliament of South Ossetia Alan Alborov will pay an official visit to the Russian Federation. Together with the Speaker of the legislative body, a delegation of deputies, which has included representatives of all the parliamentary factions, has left for Moscow.

According to the press service of the Parliament, during the visit a historic agreement will be signed between the Parliament of South Ossetia and the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

Representatives of Ministry of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia took part in the III International Conference on the problem of the spread of extremist ideology, organized by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the press service of the law enforcement agency reports.

The conference was attended by First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - the head of the criminal police, police colonel Erislav Mamiev, and the head of the department of legal support and international cooperation, police colonel Artur Siukaev.
