The United Nations continues to advocate "double standards" year after year, leveling its own fundamental principles concerning the rights of peoples, instead of adopting effective methods to strengthen confidence-building measures, providing victims of the Georgian aggression with the opportunity to voice their position from the UN rostrum, assisting in building mutually beneficial equal approaches and progress in the issue of security guarantees for South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

This is stated in the commentary of the MFA of South Ossetia regarding the resolution on refugees and displaced persons from South Ossetia and Abkhazia adopted within the framework of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

The department noted that the UN General Assembly had once again adopted a biased resolution on refugees and displaced persons from South Ossetia and Abkhazia, initiated by Georgia and its "friends".

According to the Foreign Ministry, South Ossetia has repeatedly emphasized, that international platforms, unfortunately, with enviable consistency continue to broadcast a biased position devoid of any signs of objectivity.

"The obvious facts and the existing realities concerning South Ossetia and Abkhazia, their political and legal status recognized by the member states of the United Nations, as well as the victims suffered by the Ossetian and Abkhaz peoples from the actions of the Georgian nationalist regime and armed aggression, hundreds of thousands of refugees and victims, the "enlightened" West is trying to ignore and hush up," the department has noted.

It was stressed that the use of the terms "occupation" and "occupied territories" in relation to South Ossetia was absolutely unfounded.

"This has been proven repeatedly, including in the format of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia, of which the UN is a participant, as well as at other venues. Recognizing the content of the resolution as absolutely untenable, one-sided and divorced from reality, we call for greater objectivity and responsibility in relation to South Ossetia," the Foreign Ministry has concluded.
