The NATO exercises Agile Spirit 2025 with the participation of the Western Command of the Georgian Defense Forces and the US National Guard pose a direct threat to the security of South Ossetia and the entire Transcaucasia region, the RSO Foreign Ministry has noted.

The exercises are being held in Georgia from July 25 to August 6.

“As noted, they are aimed at increasing combat readiness, developing operational compatibility and strengthening interaction between the 13 participating countries.

The maneuvers, which are being held for the twelfth time, involve armored vehicles and aircraft from NATO countries, including the United States,” the Foreign Ministry has noted.

According to the plan, the exercises will be held with live firing.

"Despite the traditional statements about their "peaceful" nature, the regular military activity of the Alliance in the region with a high level of conflict potential cannot but cause concern in South Ossetia.

It is obvious that the use of the territory and military infrastructure of Georgia, as well as the participation of units of the Georgian armed forces, have very specific political and strategic goals and pose a direct threat to the security of the Republic of South Ossetia and the entire Transcaucasia region," the Ministry has emphasized.

The Foreign Ministry has noted that against the background of the official Tbilisi`s blocking the agreement on the non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia and Abkhazia within the framework of the international discussions on security in Transcaucasia, such military exercises with the participation of NATO countries and a public demonstration of force are fraught with the increase in military-political tension in Transcaucasia.
