A memorial service will be held on August 8 in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow for the fallen civilians of South Ossetia, the defenders of Tskhinval, the Ossetian and Russian servicemen of the Peacekeeping Forces, the soldiers and officers of the Russian army who, at the cost of their lives, defended South Ossetia from physical destruction.
This was reported by the Embassy of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation.
August 2025 marks 17 years since the tragic events in South Ossetia as a result of the Georgian military aggression. During these days, the Embassy of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation will be holding memorial events.
"Those wishing to express solidarity with the people of South Ossetia and share our pain for the dead can take part in the memorial event at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on August 8, 2025 at 11:00," the department has noted.
In addition, on August 7 at 19:00, the State Flag of the Republic of South Ossetia will be lowered on the Embassy grounds.
