South Ossetia will take part in the XI St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures, which will be held from September 11 to 13. This was announced by Minister of Culture Rada Dzagoeva during the briefing for media representatives.
Participation in the Forum, according to her, is the important step in strengthening cultural dialogue, expanding international ties and promoting the cultural heritage of South Ossetia at the largest international venue.
“We participate in this Forum every year — and this is no coincidence. This is a unique platform where cultural figures, heads of institutions, experts not only from the Russian Federation, but also from many countries of the world gather. The opportunity to be part of this dialogue is extremely important for us,” the Minister has emphasized.
The Forum of United Cultures traditionally brings together hundreds of participants from different regions of Russia and foreign countries. Last year, the event was attended by about eighty foreign delegations, including the official delegation of South Ossetia.
"This is the excellent opportunity to get acquainted, exchange experience and establish business contacts with colleagues from different countries. We actively use the Forum to present our culture, traditions and modern cultural initiatives," Rada Dzagoeva has noted.
The Minister also touched upon the issue of international recognition of the Republic.
"I am convinced that culture should have no borders and should not become hostage to political conjuncture or the geopolitical situation. Art and creativity unite people regardless of passports and cards. It is all the more valuable that we can participate, share our heritage and be heard," she said.
At the same time, Dzagoeva especially emphasized the role of the Russian Federation as a key partner and ally.
"Our main partner and friend is the Russian Federation. That says a lot: about trust, support and common values that we share."
The South Ossetian delegation at the upcoming Forum will represent the republic within the framework of the cultural exposition, take part in panel discussions and establish new contacts with the international partners.
