South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev has received the official Nicaraguan delegation, which arrived in Tskhinval to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Republic.
The delegation has included Foreign Minister Jentske Whitaker and Minister-Counselor of the Nicaraguan Embassy in the Russian Federation Claudio Antonio Orana.
The two sides exchanged greetings, reminiscing about the history of bilateral cooperation.
Alan Gagloev has emphasized that it is especially significant for South Ossetia that on this significant day, friends are present and sharing the festive spirit with the Ossetian people.
"Today we are also celebrating National Flag Day, and I want to express my special gratitude to you for participating in the celebrations. "Welcome to South Ossetia," Alan Gagloev said.
The head of state conveyed his warmest wishes to Comandante Daniel Ortega and all the people of the Republic of Nicaragua.
In turn, Waldrak Jentske Whitaker thanked Alan Gagloev for the invitation to the celebrations and emphasized his honor to visit the friendly republic during these days.
"It is a great honor for us to be present at these celebratory events. On this day, I convey greetings from our Comandante Daniel Ortega, and on behalf of all the people of Nicaragua, I wish to congratulate the brotherly people of South Ossetia on this anniversary," the head of the Nicaraguan Foreign Ministry said.
He has emphasized that relations between the two republics were established 17 years ago, and the determination of Nicaragua's leadership at that historic moment played a key role in the development of bilateral cooperation.
A letter of greetings from Comandante Daniel Ortega was read out during the meeting.
By presidential decree, Waldrak Jentske Whitaker was awarded the Order of Friendship, and Claudio Antonio Orana, Minister-Counselor of the Nicaraguan Embassy in the Russian Federation, was awarded the medal "In Commemoration of the 35th Anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia."
The guests were also presented with a commemorative coin issued by the National Bank for the 35th anniversary of the Republic.
The meeting was also attended by the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev and the South Ossetian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Nicaragua Narim Kozaev.
