South Ossetia held a farewell ceremony for Batrbeg Ostaev, died in the special military operation

A memorial service was held in Tskhinval for a soldier Batrbeg Ostaev, died heroically in the line of duty during the special military operation.

Hundreds of people came to share the grief of the deceased's family.

The memorial service was attended by the Republic's leadership, headed by President Alan Gagloev, Russian Ambassador to the Republic of South Ossetia, Marat Kulakhmetov, Commander of the Alania detachment, Ruslan Ostaev (call sign "Skif"), representatives of ministries and agencies, the soldier's comrades, and the public.

Barbeg Ostaev was 46 years old. He is survived by three sons, for whom their father's heroic deed will forever remain a symbol of courage and selfless service to the Motherland.

President Alan Gagloev expressed his sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. He noted that the republic will always honor the memory of its heroes who sacrificed their lives for a peaceful future.

"Today we are mourning the loss of a true hero who fulfilled his military duty, standing up to protect civilians in the special military operation zone," Gagloev said. "The passing of such people is a tremendous loss for our people."

He has noted that the death of each soldier who participated in the special operation is perceived as a personal loss and causes shared pain.

"Batrbeg dedicated many years to serving in the State Guard, steadfastly fulfilling his duty even in the most difficult times. He participated in protecting the interests of the state, including repelling the Georgian aggression, demonstrating courage and selflessness," the President added.

The Russian Ambassador has also expressed the words of sympathy and support to the family of the deceased, emphasizing that their heroic deed will live forever in the people's memory. “We are obliged to honor and respect such people,” the Ambassador has noted. “His heroic death serves as the example of courage and honor. These soldiers themselves become monuments worthy of eternal memory. Their stories must be passed on to younger generations, for it is on such people that the future of South Ossetia is built.”

During the memorial service, the Batrbeg’s comrades and loved ones remembered him as a man of exceptional spirit.

Those gathered has noted that he was not only a courageous and determined warrior, but also a kind, compassionate person and a reliable comrade, always relied upon in the most difficult times.

Barbeg Ostaev was given his final farewell with full military honors.

By decree of the Republic’s President, Alan Gagloev, the soldier was posthumously awarded the “Defender of the Fatherland” medal.
