South Ossetia paid last tributes to Gennady Kokoev, perished during the special military operation.
The Republic's leadership, led by President Alan Gagloev, members of Parliament, led by Speaker Alan Margiev, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, the soldier's family and friends, and his comrades attended the funeral.
Kokoev's heroism and courage were noted during the funeral rally.
"Gennady, upon learning of the start of the special military operation, went to the front without informing his family. From the start of the military operation until recently, he remained in the combat zone. "Everyone who knew him described him as a modest and decent man who was always ready to support his comrades," they said at the funeral rally.
Kokoev was 49 years old. He is survived by a son.
By decree of President of South Ossetia, Gennady Kokoev was awarded the "Defender of the Fatherland" medal (posthumously).
